The Sydney International Open is back on in 2026!

Dates: Wednesday 8th April to Sunday 12th April 2026
Venue: Conference Rooms 5 & 6 at Novotel West HQ

Divisions:
Championships: Over 2000 FIDE ONLY + Norm Event
Challengers: Over 1600 ACF or 1750 FIDE
Contenders: Under 1600 ACF or Under 1750 FIDE

All rating cutoffs are strict. There will be a strict 2000 FIDE rating cutoff for the Championships based on April ratings. No ratings below 2000 FIDE standard will be accepted into the Championships. This means if your rating falls to 1999 in April, you will be transferred into the Challengers.

The three highest female players between 1850 and 2000, as rated by FIDE, will be accepted into the Championships. This is the only exception granted. No other exemptions will be permitted.

All classical divisions are 9 Round Swiss Events, with 90 minutes + 30 seconds as the time control

Blitz: Open to All
11 Round Swiss with 3 minutes + 2 seconds as the time control
